Abstract

To celebrate 125 years of distinctive legal education, Chicago-Kent honored 125 distinguished alumni with a dinner and awards presentation on November 21, 2013.

Among the alumni honored in the evening's events were Anita Alvarez (first female and first Hispanic Cook County State's Attorney, 33:36), Dorothy Brown (First African-American elected Clerk of Circuit Court of Cook County, 36:18), Justice Anne Burke (IL Supreme Court, 36:42), Archibald Carey Jr. (judge, clergyman, civil rights activist, and inspiration to Martin Luther King, Jr, 38:38), Joel Daly (Emmy-winning newscaster and trial attorney, 38:17), Billy Dec (Rockit Ranch Productions, 39:53), and Richard Ogilvie (former IL governor).

The evening's speakers were Bernard Judge (Editor Emeritus of Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, 0:08), Dean Harold Krent (3:35), IIT President John Anderson (7:15), Tom Demetrio '73 (chairman of Chicago-Kent Board of Overseers and partner at Corboy & Demetrio, 12:30), Andrea Bertone '95 (President of Duke Energy International, 25:00), and Lew Collens (IIT President Emeritus, Chicago-Kent Dean 1974-90, and Professor of Law Emeritus, 29:44).
